16.jpg - Headache Quilt, 53" x 72", 1997 For years I would wake up every morning about two a.m. with a headache. I created this quilt by "drawing" with stitches forty-eight little figures all holding their head. I call the figures Snoofers. They are characters that I create and have used in many of my foam block prints. A friend taught me to sew French knots during this time and the black knots made the little figures look like poppy seed crackers. It has been a popular quilt with friends. The headaches stopped when I found out that the over-the-counter medicine that I was taking to stop the headaches was actually causing them (what is called "rebound" headaches).
