| Studio Conversation, 63 1/2" x 64 1/4", 2000 An artist friend traveled with me to Vermont to visit Deidre Scherer in her quilt studio. We sat there surrounded by her work and discussed our art. Later I sketched an idea for a quilt based on that trip. It didn't work out so I started again from scratch. I attached some shapes that could flip either to the left or to the right. It is an abstract representation of the intensity of the give and take of the conversation, colors and textures of the trip. Later nearby prep school asked to purchase the quilt as a retirement gift for my artist friend who had traveled with me. It was very appropriate. |
